Rural Development and wildlife conservation in Laos

Lao-Luxembourg Rural Development Project in Bolikhamxay province sponsors wildlife exhibition and helps with community training work conducted through the “Wildlife Conservation Society” (NGO).



Bolikhan Integrated Rural Development Project (LAO/014) recently provided remote operating camera-traps, assorted support equipment & villager allowances to create a greater awareness of the wildlife resources on which the adjoining communities depend.

Sending money home: Worldwide remittance flows to developing countries

150 million migrants worldwide sent more than US$300 billion to their families in developing countries during 2006.
Remittances, the portion of migrant workers’ earnings sent home to their families, have been a critical means of financial support for generations. For the most part, these flows have historically been “hidden in plain view”, often uncounted and even ignored. All that is changing.
